Giant Gnome is an experiment with extreme weights and shapes, looking for a maximum impact on small sizes. Considering that the Regular weight has reached its full potential, the font can only go lighter.
The heavy weights, generous curves and small apertures are meant to generate a very optimistic and childish, naive looking text, ideal to illustrate a happy fairy tale about the chubby moon made of cheese. For this, the characters won’t follow a template or a very strict grid, and each character has its own personality and personal space in the text.
The slab serif is added to have extra decorative elements to play with, and somehow push the design closer to a vintage appearance, even if the design has a modern approach. The font can be used for short texts only, reserved for a special place in the layout, whatever the case.
The only downside is that this font may need a lot of ink.
