Free Use

Trial fonts downloaded from loremipsum.ro or affiliates are copyrighted and meant for evaluation and personal purposes only, to be used "as is". Standard restrictions are implied.
Trial Fonts
  1. Trial fonts on loremipsum.ro are provided without a license, in TTF format only (OpenType Layout, TrueType Outlines). The trial version includes all characters and font features, and should not represent a limitation for testing;
  2. For copyright reasons trial fonts have embedding restrictions and may not always act as expected. Compatibility issues with softwares doesn’t necessarily reflects the way copyright free fonts work.
  3. The font author shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damage that result from the use of trial fonts.
Permissions
  1. The fonts are free for nonprofit projects and organizations. Causes for human or animal rights, charity projects can use the fonts at their convenience (Political Parties and Religious Movements are not part of this category, the font/author may not be associated with any philosophy/ideology, good or bad);
  2. The fonts can be used free of charge in any cultural, educational or social event that is not promotional, provides a free access and not held frequently;
  3. Personal portfolio works can include the fonts for free as long as the purpose of self-promotion is not to gain immediate commercial benefits or to take credit for that specific font.
Restrictions
  1. Embedding trial fonts or uploading to public servers in order to use them in online editors is not allowed. The free use is limited to images or outlined vectors;
  2. Renaming, converting or modifying trial fonts, including the terms in the download package is forbidden. A font share must respect the original structure of the download, and where not possible, the definition "Free for personal use" must be visible;
  3. A constant use of a trial font is considered identity and treated as such.

License

The commercial license includes the Desktop, Web, App and Broadcast licenses all together, and this is considered the standard format for every project.

  2. Non-Exclusive* - others may have similar license;
  3. Non-Transferable - not for sub-license or distribution;
  4. All-Purpose - for any support, online or offline;
  5. International - unlimited worldwide coverage;
  6. Single / Group - granted to individuals or companies.

*Exclusive Rights or Custom Fonts are not available. The font gallery represents a personal portfolio, provided for public use.

Price
  1. The commercial license is $20 (USD) / font;
  2. A 40% discount is applied on minimum 2 fonts selected from the same family. Discount not available for Single Fonts;
  3. The price is generic, regardless the number of:
    a. Applications or Locations;
    b. Devices or Employees using the font;
    c. Glyphs Included or Characters Used;
    d. Pageviews or Target Audience.
Grant of License
  1. Lorem Ipsum is not affiliated with third parties to negotiate or sell the fonts, this site is the exclusive source for a commercial license;
  2. The commercial license is effective upon payment. The license represents the agreement for unlimited and unconditional usage rights;
  3. The license is granted to the copyright owner of the work (e.g. if a designer is a licensed user, the client won’t need a license for the work created by the designer).

Process

loremipsum.ro has no access to sensitive payment information and doesn’t track, collect or share user data with cookies, analytics or other tools.
Payment
  1. Once the font selection is completed on loremipsum.ro, the user is redirected to PayPal for checkout. The payment is handled and secured exclusively by PayPal;
  2. The PayPal account is optional. Cards accepted by PayPal are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diner's Club and EnRoute;
  3. After the transaction no further action is required from the buyer. Both parties receive a payment notification that stands for the license document. Additionally, an invoice is issued with the info provided by PayPal.
Delivery
  1. The delivery is personal, done exclusively via email, sent to the email address used for the purchase;
  2. The attachment includes the invoice in a PDF format and the copyright free fonts in 6 formats: OTF, TTF, EOT, SVG, WOFF and WOFF2, archived in a ZIP file. The inbox should be clear of any restrictions regarding these file types;
  3. The delivery is not instant, a delay may occur due to time zone differences (local time UTC+03:00), and depends on how fast is the payment processed.
Refund
  1. The website is developed to display as accurately as possible the features and properties of each available font. However, there is no guarantee that the specifications will be accurate or free of errors on different devices or used in other conditions. Because of that, prior to making any purchase, a font should be tested in every available media and conditions, to make sure that this will meet every technical requirements and stylistic expectations;
  2. The refund is possible if the copyright free fonts were not delivered yet to the buyer's address. Otherwise, the license purchase is final and non refundable;
  3. Exceptionally, in case a font has obvious errors that were overlooked, without the possibility of repair, the refund is made with the same method of payment.

How much?

The commercial license is $20/font. A 40% discount is applied automatically on multiple font purchase from the same family.

Where is the download link?

The download link exists only for the trial version. The copyright free fonts are sent to licensed users via Email as soon as the notification of payment is received from PayPal. Official documents are not stored online and the transfer of files is private, trying to avoid third-party involvement as much as possible.

I can't export a file with the font. Why?

To avoid usage restrictions, you have to install the copyright free version, sent to licensed users. This means removing the trial version first. If Adobe softwares still throws you an error, make sure that the trial font is removed also from the Adobe font database. This is an archive created by Adobe, located under the "User" folder.

Does the font supports my language?

To check if the alphabet is complete for your language, see the language list in the Language section. To test a specific character online, you can insert it into the text from the Character Map, available in the test area, at the page top. In your local vector software (Illustrator, Corel Draw, Quark, other) look for the Insert function. The location of this function varies, depending on the software. Another option to preview the font content is to use the Character Map from your system.

Is there another way of purchase?

No, unfortunately, but the transaction on PayPal doesn't require an account and all the major credit and debit cards are accepted. If the company policy does not allow PayPal payments, a personal purchase is always a valid option. The invoice is issued to the company, on request.

Can I use the font for a logo?

Every design for identities are considered commercial works, therefore you need a license in order to do that.

Would you customize the font?

Usually I wouldn't mind, but this is an elaborate and time-consuming process that may not worth it. The licensed users can alter the font for their needs, as long as this is not published for commercial purposes.

Do I need a license document?

Not really, the payment notification and the invoice serves as the proof of purchase. Also, the licensed users are saved in a personal database. Exceptionally, if a third party requests a proof, an official license document can be issued on request.

The checkout doesn't work?

To activate the PayPal link, the font has to be selected. If the selection is the problem, there are two possible solutions. The one from the user part is to open the page with a different/updated browser, preferably not Safari or Opera (these may be late with the web standards). The quick fix from my part is to send you a direct link to PayPal, a link that is usually generated on font selection and contains all the info required for the purchase.

How long it takes to receive the files?

The delivery is the #1 priority, but it is not automated, everything is on a personal level. Delays may occur due to time differences, the period the payment is processed by PayPal or even technical issues (SPAM folders, dead phones, other excuses). Usually the delivery is up from one to a few hours, once the payment notification is received. If you haven't received a reply within 1 business day, please write a message. No transaction ID is neccessary to check and get back to you as soon as possible.

I have to credit the font use?

A credit, either for free or commercial use, is not required or restricted. If you wish to do that and you have a credit section, why not? A recognition is always a pleasure.

Font Information

pxlxxl was made in 2010 for a personal website that involved pixel related designs, so the font was built using only vertical and horizontal lines.


This raised a lot of challenges since the font had no previous model for inspiration, the basic rule was only to follow strict hexadecimal values for a sharp look online.

The pxlxxl font family includes versions that are related in a classical way, similar in style to complement each other, even if every font has a separate design and grid, depending on its role in the layout.

The creative process basically involved a play with line variations, the really difficult part being only the small details in Bold and Heavy versions, which resulted in a few abstract characters, better seen on small sizes.

Latin Extended includes Latin-1 Supplement, Latin Extended-A, Latin Extended-B and Latin Extended Additional. Languages with diacritics have priority (e.g. Italian is Basic Latin, but Italy has regional languages with diacritics).
